Wondering How To Stop Snoring? Here Are The Best Snoring Remedies

Here are some effective snoring remedies if you want to know how to stop snoring. These remedies fall into two major categories: long term and short term, or proactive and reactive or, preventative and prescriptive. Let's have a look.

How To stop snoring With Long Term Snoring Remedies

You need to know the difference between what will cure your snoring by attacking its root cause and what will merely mask it by only treating the symptoms (while the cause remains intact). Let's take a look at what is causing your snoring.

Snoring is caused by a narrowing of the airway to the point where air is partially obstructed causing the snoring noise to occur. It doesn't get more complicated than that. If the airway is completely closing cutting off breathing in the process, then we call that obstructive sleep apnea. If this is happening you need to see a doctor immediately. The preventative steps to eliminating snoring can also eliminate sleep apnea.

The secret of how to stop snoring with long term snoring remedies is to find out why your airway is narrowing during sleep. The first thing that should be considered here is weight. People who are overweight build up fat and tissue all over their body, including the neck and throat. Losing just 10 pounds of bodyweight can decrease or even stop snoring all together. If there is no improvement after losing 10 pounds then lose another 10 pounds. I'm serious! Losing weight will also put you at less risk of a myriad of other chronic diseases.

If you are as thin as a rail or you are certain that your snoring has nothing to do with your weight, then the next option you need to consider is throat exercises. These special exercises strengthen the muscle and tissue in your throat so the airway doesn't narrow during sleep and cause snoring. I talk about these exercises in other articles on my site.

Finally, if you are certain your snoring has nothing to do with being overweight. And, you have faithfully tried the throat exercises by still snore. Then and only then would I consider you a candidate for snoring surgery. However, this decision needs to be made with your doctor.

How To Stop Snoring With Short Term Snoring Remedies

Knowing how to stop snoring with short term snoring remedies is the second piece in curing your snoring problem. The long term remedy isn't going to give the results now. But, you need to stop snoring now. You need some solutions to stop your snoring while you are waiting for the long term remedy to kick in. Basically the effective approaches are of three kinds. First, make sure you are not doing anything to cause your throat to narrow while sleeping. The second approach is to control your sleeping position. The third approach are to use devices.

Keeping The Throat Open

Do not eat, drink or take anything that will cause your throat to relax and narrow. Do not drink alcohol, take pain medication or any medicine that causes you to relax before going to bed. These items cause the muscles in your throat to relax and your throat to narrow.

Sleeping Position

Sleep on your side, not your back. Sew a tennis ball to the back of a shirt and wear it while you sleep if you need to. Also, sleep with your head higher up. There are also special pillows you can buy for this.

Snoring Devices

Visit your local drug store and see what they have for snoring strips or other stop snoring devices. Mayne you will find one that works for you.

Remember that these short term solutions for how to stop snoring with snoring remedies are only going to stop the snoring temporarily. If for some reason none of these options don't work you will still snore. On the other hand, the long term approaches may get rid of your snoring for ever.

Impotence A Mans Worse Nightmare!

Impotence, also known as erectile dysfunction (ED) is a man’s inability to achieve or maintain an erection. This is a condition that is rarely talked about amongst men but can have a devastating effect on a man’s confidence and self-esteem. This can subsequently lead to depression which only serves to aggravate the condition further. Unfortunately, impotence is a very common problem and affects over 2 million men in the UK alone. In fact, over half the male population over the age of 40 will suffer from some form of impotence at some stage. Despite these statistics, only a small number of men, about 10%, will seek medical assistance due mainly to feelings of embarrassment. Many medical doctors will prescribe chemicalised drugs, such as the blue pills to combat impotence. These are of course, not without their side effects.

Most young men in their 20’s or early 30’s dismiss erectile dysfunction as something that will never happen to them. Yet ED is a condition that can be caused by a number of factors.

Psychological

This is often the layman’s reason for the number one cause of impotence. Yet according to studies, psychological factors account for less than 20% of impotence in men. It is the subsequent feeling of depression and anxiety after one incident of impotence that can compound any underlining medical condition and worsen the problem.

High Blood Pressure

Aside from psychological factors, physical condition can also precipitate impotence. It is well documented that high blood pressure and high level of cholesterol can lead to a high risk of impotence. This is due to the copious amount of pressure on the blood vessels that causes damage to the arteries of the penis severely restricting the flow of blood to the penis resulting in an ineffective erection.

Stress and Fatigue

This one falls into the category of psychological. Although some men find stress to be a motivator, too much stress and fatigue can lead to erectile dysfunction. Stress can be in the form of financial, sexual, work or relationship and this can cause erectile problems. Fatigue is normally the result of stress that can zap a person’s physical and mental energy. Once the cause of stress or fatigue is resolved, then any erectile challenges should also be resolved.

Excess Weight

Over weight is seen as a contributory factor to increased level of impotence. Excessive fat blocks the arteries in the penis which restrict the flow of blood to the penis resulting in difficulty in

achieving or maintaining an erection.

Strokes

Most men who suffered strokes normally complain of lack of sexual desire and erection problems. It is important that stroke sufferers should immediately seek medical advice upon any indication of any erectile dysfunction whatsoever. Erectile problems after a stroke are not normally permanent.

Treatment

Impotence is a very real and serious concern for the majority of men at some stage in their life. The causes range from the psychological, to the physical such as high blood pressure. There are preventative actions that one can take such as regular exercise, adequate sleep, reducing levels of stress and consulting your doctor as soon as possible.

Most causes of impotence can be identified and treated. Many medical doctors will prescribe the little blue pill or other similar ED drugs to treat impotence. Unfortunately, these are not without side effects. So it is not surprising that millions of men are turning to 100% naturally herbal alternatives such as Maxidus to treat erectile dysfunction.

As natural herbs have no side effects, the benefits are unsurpassable such as increase in energy, libido boosting and treatment of impotence. So, don’t allow impotence to become your nightmare!

Surefire way to increase your karate move flexibility

Before you begin your karate training I just only want to make sure you do some stretching first. It is basic but it is very important to improve your karate move flexibility. All of your muscle is subject to myotatic reflex. What the h**k is myotatic reflex? What is it doing with your karate training?

Simply said, myotatic reflex is stretch reflex which opposes changes in muscle length, especially sudden or extreme changes. When a muscle lengthens beyond a certain point, the myotatic reflex causes it to tighten and attempt to shorten. This is the tension you feel during stretching exercises.

In your karate training the myotatic reflex could prevent muscle strains and tears. Without the myotatic reflex your muscles would be allowed to overextend and tear easily. But it is also undesirable in cases where it prevents you from fully using your body.
That is why stretching is important before you do your karate training. By stretching, you are entering the state where you gradually lessen the myotatic reflex little by little so you could teach your muscles a new limit of safe extension. I suggest your stretching must be slow and consistent. If you overstretch and injure the muscle, you have to go back to a lower level of flexibility and start over. Set your stretching for karate training goals over a period of weeks or months, not days, for best results.

Now the question is what stretching method best for your karate training?

There are three types of stretching method for your karate training: ballistic, dynamic, and static.
Now I would not recommend a ballistic stretching for your karate training. By doing ballistic stretching you are using some type of moving pressure to stretch the target muscle. Why I said I would not recommend it? It is simply because ballistic stretching highly activates the myotatic reflex and causes the muscles to tense rather than relax, thus it has high risk that your karate training would end up by you taking injury.

If you would like to increase your karate move flexibility it is best you are doing dynamic or static stretching.
By doing dynamic stretching you are moving your muscle through its full range of movement, thus leading to greater flexibility in movement but should be done with caution so it does not become ballistic stretching (caution boy and gal, you don't want to get injured, do you?). To maintain a correct dynamic stretch, focus on smooth, even movements that do not shock the muscle. Examples of dynamic stretches are leg raises, knee raises, trunk circles, and arm circles.

What about static stretching? Static stretching is a controlled stretch which means a specific muscle (or muscle group) is extended to the point of feeling slight pain and held in that position for ten to sixty seconds. And don't forget this during your karate training: when doing your static stretching it is best to concentrate on relaxing the target muscles and breathing deeply.

Last but not least: begin your flexibility workout with several minutes of gross motor activity first in order to increase your blood flow. Making your blood flow increased improves the suppleness of the muscles. After that move to joint loosening exercises followed by dynamic stretches to the get the muscles moving freely. If you are working only on flexibility, do static stretches next. During your karate training, interspersing periods of static stretching throughout the workout works best because the range of motion increases as the body warms up. Do some light static stretches at the end of every workout to relax and refresh your muscles.

Now you will learn what should not be done during your karate training.

• Stretching is important but do not overstretch it. A mild sensation of burning or pulling should be felt in the target muscles. It should be uncomfortable but not unbearable.

• Flexibility in karate is important, so is strength. Always increase your strength and flexibility together. Focusing too heavily on one side in your karate training will only making you have weakness. Don't let it happen especially when your opponent sees it and making advantage over you because of this.

• You should avoid bouncing too much during a stretch. Bouncing causes the muscles to tighten and heightens the risk of injury.

• If you ever feel pain in your joints during stretch exercise stop immediately and discontinue that exercise. Something not right and if you continue it will only making injury for you.

• Follow instructions for exercises carefully. There is right and wrong way to stretch every muscle. Good flexibility exercises are designed to provide a maximum stretch with a minimum risk of injury.

• When doing flexibility exercises that require bending at the waist, always bend from the hip, not the lower back. The lower back is extremely vulnerable to injuries.

• Do gravity assisted stretches with caution and only after fully warming up. Gravity assisted stretches are exercises like splits that use the force of gravity to increase the pressure on the stretch.

That's it! Now you have already understand how to increase your karate move flexibility and what should not be done during your training. Happy karate training.

Bookstore Books Don't Always Make Hot Selling E-books

I write e-books for a living.

It's my bread and butter. Right now I'm on a lovely summer holiday... in a country other than my own... courtesy of the $49,613 just one of my e-books generated in a span of three months.

But let the truth be known - I despise reading the darn things on the computer. Okay perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself. I don't like reading 'certain' e-books on the computer.

And once I give you my readers perspective, you'll see why most bookstore books turned e-books flop in their digital format.

Okay, a couple of years ago I bought my first Palm Pilot. Neato little device. And the biggest selling point - for me at least - was that I could load it up with all the e-books I wanted.

Then, I rationalized, I could read them all on the airplane, or at night when I was lying in bed, or in line at the Department of Motor Vehicles. You catch my drift.

A funny thing happened though.

I jumped onto the Palm web site, and downloaded an e-book that I'd been wanting to read. What joy to discover that: #1) I would save a couple of dollars by not purchasing the print copy. And #2) I could satiate my 'immediate gratification' bug and begin reading it right away.

So that night I started reading the e-book on my Palm Pilot. I think I got to page 11 before I stopped. And then I never went back.

Now jump ahead to early 2006 when I purchased my second Palm Pilot.

Once again I returned to the Palm e-bookstore watering hole. I picked up not one, but three new titles.

"Newer, better Palm Pilot!" I rationalized. "I'll REALLY read those e-books now."

It's now August 2006, and I've used my Palm Pilot as an iPod substitute, a telephone book, a mini laptop, and as a convenient place to store my doodles. But I've yet to read any of those e-books that I've downloaded. Not the first one. And not the last three.

With that said, why am I such an open advocate 'for' e-books.

Because digital delivery really is a magnificent tool when you combine it with the right type of data.

In my opinion, fiction isn't an ideal match for digital delivery. That's why Amazon's e-book section is minuscule shadow of their print book offerings.

If fiction e-books were a smokin' hot commodity, Amazon would've been buried up to their eyeballs in them a loooong time ago.

But they're not. Their involvement is somewhat limited. Things that make you go "Hmmmm."

Most non-fiction isn't suited for digital delivery either. For example, would you really want to read a biography on your laptop - for pleasure? Probably not.

The Content Strategy That Truly Fits The Technology

So you know what doesn't work. Pleasure e-books - fiction and the such - are still a novelty item right now. Who knows if they'll ever catch on as a mainstay to book lovers.

But the $64,000 question is, what does work?

Giving buyers information that they really need NOW.

It's a simple concept.

Steve has a sinus infection that's making his head feel like it's a one ton anvil. Steve cannot afford the rounds of antibiotics his doctor has recommended. (Steve lives in the US, so this is completely understandable.)

So Steve goes online to seek out alternative treatments. He finds an e-book that promises natural sinus infection cures. While Steve cannot afford the $300 antibiotics, he can swing $19.95 for the e-book.

Aha! This is where the immediate gratification of an e-book becomes important.

Our friend Steve has a clear and definite reason for "needing" that information now. He is desperate to have a very uncomfortable problem solved. And he doesn't mind staring at a screen to read it. The e-book format makes absolute sense here.

The moral of the story is this... if you want to make real money selling e-books online, choose content that buyers are desperate for. They have to be hungry and rabid for the information. In clear and outward pain. Then put that content into e-book format. Stir with some targeted advertising, and watch the money do a conga line into your bank account.

The key in e-book marketing is to make the technology work for you, not against you.

What is Neuroarthropathy?

Neuroarthropathy is a destructive arthritis facilitated by neurological (nerve) disease. It is also known as Charcot joint disease. It is named for Jean-Marie Charcot a French neurologist who observed a severe pattern of joint destruction in patients with advanced syphilis. This advanced (tertiary) syphilis commonly causes absence of normal sensation; especially in the lower extremities (foot and ankle). Charcot noted this in 1868. For the last seventy years this has also been observed in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (nerve disease). This neuropathy also causes a loss of normal sensation. Feet can become totally insensate (without feeling). It’s common for these feet to have normal arterial circulation. The last predisposing factor to Neuroarthropathy is trauma. Trauma can be acute as an injury like a fracture or sprain; or it can be subtle like a repetitive stress injury. A person whose foot musculoskeletal structure is even slightly dysfunctional is at a much greater risk for this destructive arthritis.

Who develops Neuroarthropathy?

The vast majority of patients who develop this arthropathy have diabetes mellitus. Specifically these patients have diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The incidence in the diabetic population is about 8.5 per 1000 patients. There are approximately sixteen million diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetics in the United States population; and another approximately forty million people with impaired glucose tolerance making them predisposed to diabetes mellitus.

Why do they develop Neuroarthropathy?

Simply put trauma with out pain. In the sensate foot even minor trauma causes pain. In the insensate foot the pain is not perceived. Pain is important for telling us something is wrong. Without the pain the diabetic person doesn’t feel strain, sprains, arthritis, fractures, and minor and major injuries. Without the pain telling the person there is a problem the person aggravates the condition which can lead to joint and bone destruction. Multiple fractures and total joint destruction are not uncommon. Neuroarthropathy can become so bad the foot or ankle becomes totally destroyed necessitating special shoes, foot orthosis, bracing, surgical care and even possible amputation.

Are there other conditions that lead to Neuroarthropathy?

Any disease or disorder that leads to an insensate foot can cause Neuroarthropathy.

Spine trauma can be a cause. Infectious disease such as syphilis and leprosy can be causes. Neurological disorders such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease; and vitamin deficiency can also be causes. These represent a miniscule incidence of Neuroarthropathy. But the worse trend of all and the highest risk are probably in people who are both diabetic and alcoholic.

What are common symptoms of Neuroarthropathy?

Unexplained swelling of the foot and ankle usually unilateral (one side) usually without pain is a common presentation. Redness and heat maybe present. Common differential diagnosis includes gout, infection of soft tissues or bone and tendonitis.

How is Neuroarthropathy diagnosed?

Clinical examination with basic history are physical should lead a clinician to be highly suspicious of the disorder. An insensate diabetic patient who present with a unilateral warm, swollen, reddish foot with no history of significant should preliminarily treated as having Neuroarthropathy until proven otherwise. More advanced cases can have crepitating or grating noises between bone and joints when place through a range of motion.

Radiographs in early stages can often be inconclusive. In later stages they can be quite self evident with severe bone destruction, dislocations and fractures. Bone scans are helpful in making a diagnosis. Other testing such as MRI or CT scans can be helpful in diagnosing bone abscess and for surgical staging.

How is it treated?

Initial treatment consists of immobilization with a cast or cam-walker. Total non-weight bearing is mandatory. Use of crutches, walkers and knee walkers is a necessity also. Use of a wheelchair is not uncommon. After the condition becomes quiescent foot orthosis, special insoles, extra-depth shoes, custom shoes, braces and ankle foot orthosis may be needed to control the condition and stabilize deformity. Surgical care is sometimes needed.

Discover The Secrets Of High-Performance Gymnastics Through Strength Training!

Gymnastics in a unique sport to develop a proper strength training plan for. Gymnasts have incredible neuromuscular connections. Gymnastics requires, strength, power, flexibility, speed, and complete control over the body. The momentum required for gymnastics puts extreme forces and stresses on the gymnasts body. For these reasons, strength training is a MUST for gymnasts.

You must approach strength training for gymnastics in a methodical, sensible fashion.

The following tips should help any gymnast improve their performances in competition.

1. Emphasize The “Gymnastics Muscles”

When you create a strength training plan exclusively for gymnastics, you should emphasize the shoulders, back, chest, arms, abdominals, and thighs. These are the “order of importance” for your workout. The shoulders are used more than any of the other muscles, and therefore are trained first in a workout when your body is fresh.

2. Select exercises For the “Gymnastics Muscles”

There are many, many exercises that you can perform for each of the body parts. Think about what body parts are sore after a practice or performance and consider exercises that will train that area. Generally, you should try to perform 2 exercises for each body part when designing a sport specific strength training plan for gymnastics.

3. Start Slowly Then Move Faster

For gymnastics training you should start the exercise slowly and methodically. As your muscles start to tire out, you then try to speed up the repetitions. The weight probably won’t move faster at this point, but the increased effort to speed up will tax the muscle fibers more. Continue until you cannot perform another repetition with perfect form. Use a spotter if training with free weights.

4. Train the Individual “Heads” Of the Shoulders

The shoulders have three separate heads or areas. They are the anterior deltoid, the medial deltoid, and the posterior deltoid. It is a good idea to train these heads individually. Front raises, lateral raises, and the reverse pec-deck machine are good choices.

5. Use A Thick Bar

If you want to get maximum muscle stimulation on the gymnastics muscles, try using a thick bar. This is a hollow metal bar that works like a barbell, and loads regular plates on the ends. The thick bar is great for pressing and curls. It forces the muscles to work extra hard. If you don’t have one where you train, you should consider getting one.

6. Do Your Abdominal Work On a Swiss Ball

A swiss ball is amazingly effective for working your abdominal muscles. It allows you to stretch your abdominals before flexing them. Most abdominal exercises don’t allow for a full stretch of the abdominals, and are therefore less effective for a gymnast, who wants very strong abdominals.

Coxsackie Virus – Symptoms, Causes and Treatment

Infection usually is spread by fecal-oral contamination, although occasionally the virus is spread by droplets expelled by infected individuals. Items like utensils, diaper-changing tables, and toys that come in contact with body fluids that contain the virus may also transmit them to other individuals. Although people of any age can get infected, the majority of patients identified with Coxsackie infection are children. Pregnant women can pass Coxsackie virus to their newborns, which may cause serious problems for the newborn, so pregnant women need to notify their obstetrician if they exhibit symptoms of the infection, especially if they are near their delivery date.

Symptoms
The coxsackie virus apparently produces few or no symptoms in most instances, but it can cause a commonly occurring intestinal disease, with abdominal distress and diarrhea. Even when symptomatic, the resulting disease is usually a relatively mild one, which might be referred to as "intestinal flu." It most often occurs in late summer or early autumn and is consistent with what the Chinese call "summer heat syndrome," which usually manifests as an intestinal disorder accompanied by muscle aches and/or headaches, and fever. Rarely, the coxsackie virus can cause a more severe disease.

Coxsackievirus can produce a wide variety of symptoms. About half of all kids infected with coxsackievirus have no symptoms. Others suddenly develop high fever, headache, and muscle aches, and some also develop a sore throat, abdominal discomfort, or nausea. A child with a coxsackievirus infection may simply feel hot but have no other symptoms. In most kids, the fever lasts about 3 days, and then disappears.

causes

Mild viral infection caused by several enteroviruses, most of which are in the subgroup Coxsackie A, seen most commonly in young children. The most distinctive symptom is a rash on the mucous membranes inside the mouth. The lesions in the mouth are round macules (nonraised spots) about 2 mm (0.1 inch) in diameter, occurring predominantly on the soft palate and tonsils. Herpangina usually starts.

The Coxsackie viruses subsequently were found to cause a variety of infections, including epidemic pleurodynia (Bornholm disease), and were subdivided into groups A and B based on their pathology in newborn mice. (Coxsackie A virus causes paralysis and death of the mice, with extensive skeletal muscle necrosis; Coxsackie B causes less severe infection in the mice, but with damage to more organ systems, such as heart, brain, liver, pancreas, and skeletal muscles.)

The virus responsible is known as the Coxsackie Viruses, most notably Coxsackie Virus Type A16. They are part of a class known as Enteroviruses. It is usually spread by hand to hand contact or stool to saliva transmission.

Treatment

Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment other than treating the symptoms. This involves acetaminophen (Tylenol) for fevers. Mouth sores are probably the most problematic symptom, leading to children refusing to eat or drink due to the pain. Numbing ointments used for teething may temporarily ease the pain. Have your child drink cool drinks (such as milk), while avoiding citrus juices, which can sting them.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease usually resolve's itself within a week. Most often it's not needed for a child to see a doctor if symptoms are mild, as it rarely causes serious side effects. Uncontrolled fevers and signs of dehydration require prompt evaluation by a physician. Antibiotics will not help treat hand foot and mouth disease at all.
